Back in July, reports began to circulate that Letterboxd was looking to sell a controlling stake of its business to a film studio or private equity firm. It’s something that’s been hanging over the platform since the Canadian investment firm Tiny acquired 60% of the company in 2023, though until now that had mostly manifested itself in whatever Nanogenres are. There hasn’t been much word on the potential sale since July, but having built and lost a following on Substack due to their cozying up to entities like Bari Weiss’ The Free Press, having built and lost a following on Twitter due to their sale to Elon Musk, having built and lost a following on Tumblr due to its sale to Yahoo, and having built and lost a following on Blogger due to its mismanagement by Google, I can see the writing on the wall.
With that in mind, I slapped a fresh coat of paint onto an old URL and started blogging again. It’s been nice over at Partly Garbage, so nice, in fact, that in addition to my extant wrestling newsletter BIG EGG, I started a podcast, The Patron Saints of Sick Sons of Bitches, and dusted off another old URL, Torture Rack and Honey, so I could blog about wrestling in a low-stakes, no-pressure way again.
Setting aside BIG EGG and Patron Saints (bam, non factor), I’m also dusting off this Patreon, as shy of starting a personal newsletter (lol no thanks), it’s the easiest means of collecting my solo output under one roof. If you want to keep up with Partly Garbage and Torture Rack and Honey without missing a post on Bluesky, you can do so by signing up for free!
If you would like to become a paid subscriber, you can, but I will be forthright with y’all: between my job, my newsletter, and my podcast, I don’t have time for exclusive, paywalled content, nor do I have a strict “plan” for the free stuff on the blog. I watch a lot of movies and a lot of wrestling, I tend to write a review for every movie I watch and a piece about wrestling when something really sparks my attention. That said, if you subscribe at the $5/mo tier, you can commission a movie or match review from me. You don’t have to subscribe to commission a piece from me — you can also send me $5 on Ko-fi.
If receiving notice of this post causes you to remember that you’ve been meaning to unsubscribe to this page, I get it. Thanks for sticking around for as long as you have, please let me know if I can send you a zine or something as thanks. If you are, indeed, one of the 12 current subscribers to this page and want to stick around, I’ll give ya two movie or match review assignments as a mea culpa/way of getting things started. Here’s what I’m planning on covering in September…
Films: Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma, The Fast and the Furious, Castration Movie Anthology I: Traps
Matches: Kenny Omega vs. Will Ospreay (AEW 8/30/26), Mercedes Moné vs. Willow Nightingale (AEW 8/30/26), Ryohei Oiwa vs. Yuya Uemura (NJPW 8/16/26)
Beyond that, my goals are to continue to poke away at importing reviews and lists from my Letterboxd account over to Partly Garbage, as well as tackling the Fanfyte archive at Torture Rack and Honey. All of my 2026 Letterboxd reviews are now up, and shy of one or two I need to dig out of the Exploding Cage CSS file, every wrestling-related Microreview I’ve ever done is available for you to revel in their hyper-specific glory.
