Roared like “Stone Cold” Steve Austin had just appeared to help Mankind win the WWF Championship when they conveyed the passage of time with a cutaway shot to a calendar’s pages getting ripped in time with a firing tommy gun. Lurid and shocking in the best way, as I expected something tame and instead got a movie where bodies flop grotesquely to the pavement and bullets fly indiscriminately. Feels like every good American gangster movie has taken something from Scarface, and for good reason. This movie fuckin smokes.
